The paper presented by Ms. Kasumi Obi (2nd year M.S. student) and Mr. Quan Huu Cap (3rd year IIST doctoral student) at the IEEE EMBS conference on Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (IECBES 2020) “Bulk Production Augmentation Towards Explainable Melanoma Diagnosis” won the Best Paper Award in the student category.
IEEE IECBES 2020 is an international conference organized by IEEE mainly for medical engineering. The conference was held online after the postponement due to COVID-19.
The award-winning research was conducted to improve the performance and interpretability of automatic diagnosis of melanoma, a highly malignant skin cancer, by generating a large number of high quality images of skin tumors for training using our original machine learning technique.
