A special lecture seminar was held on November 14, 2024. Details are as follows.
Title:Towards Spatial AI: Scene Understanding and Interaction
Lecturer: Dr. Weimin Wang (Associate Professor in the International School of Information Science and Engineering, Dalian University of Technology, China)
Date: 14:00〜15:00, November 14 (Thursday), 2024
Place: Room W305, the 3rd floor, West Building, Koganei Campus
Abstract: In this talk, Prof. Wang presented recent advances in spatial perception, emphasizing multimodal sensor fusion with cameras, LiDAR, and radar across diverse environments, including land, air, and underwater. His talk covered essential topics such as environment reconstruction, SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), perception, and mesh generation, while highlighting the specific challenges autonomous driving faces in adverse weather conditions. Dr. Wang provided an overview of the evolution from classic machine learning algorithms to modern deep learning approaches, including neural networks and Transformer models, and concluded with insights into integrating large language models (LLMs). He wrapped up the lecture with an examination of cutting-edge real-world applications, such as Robotaxi systems and AI-generated content (AIGC) in image, video, and 3D/4D generation, showcasing the transformative potential of these advancements in spatial AI.
